Energo team members will work with your company to ascertain a reliability-based methodology to determine appropriate safety factors for establishing defect acceptance criteria for offshore structures.  We have the expertise and experience to provide assessments and aid in selecting design criteria for code safety factors for offshore structures and onshore locations. 

Energo has used these techniques to assist clients make design decisions as well as developing in-service structural inspection plans.  For design projects, these techniques are used to: 

● Evaluate the appropriateness of structural design safety factors

● Compare design alternatives

● Assess proposed novel structural concepts and applications.

The analyses enable our clients to better understand their structural system as well as the sensitivities to design load and resistance variables.  This enables them to focus their effort and resources on the aspects during the engineering phase that produce the greatest benefits ensuring the safest and most cost effective design. 

Energo also uses these analysis techniques to provide the framework for risk based inspections (RBI) plans for offshore structures.  Fatigue and strength reliability analyses results are used to:

●   Develop targeted inspection work scopes

●   Set inspection frequencies

●   Provide a basis for connection inspection sampling and inspection updating

The reliability analyses are coupled with data from baseline inspections, qualitative risk assessments and service conditions to form a holistic forward-looking inspection plan developed for the specific offshore asset.
