Structural Fire and Blast Assessments

Energo staff have conducted facility siting structural evaluations at over 50 petrochemical and refining facilities.  The structural evaluations determine the buildings ability to resist the identified blast loading hazards.  The objective of these evaluations is to estimate the extent of damage that will occur to the existing structures due to blast loading as well as the potential consequences (i.e., occupant vulnerability).  In the event damage is predicted, Energo also assists clients evaluate the feasibility and costs of structural blast retrofits options for their buildings.  This provides operators with the necessary information to determine the most effective mitigation to eliminate occupant risks due to site blast hazards.  Energo has also assisted clients evaluate the impact of thermal radiation on buildings due to potential pool or jet fire hazards and design structural mitigations.

Seismic Structural Engineering

Energo provides specialty earthquake structural engineering of onshore petrochemical complexes, including LNG (see LNG section). Structures in these facilities are not the same as ordinary buildings and they require special seismic knowledge.  Pipe racks, structural support for process towers, vessels, umbilical trays and other systems should all be evaluated for earthquake hazards.  Energo has trained personnel that can visit the site and make recommendations to reduce vulnerability to earthquake damage.
